The City of Salem, othe communities in the county and private contractors drop off their fallen trees to the Marion Co. log yard. Viable mill logs are milled on site as part of their youth Alternative Programs. A very small number of lower grade logs are occasionally sold to the public. The lumber is mostly used back into additional youth woodworking programs to manufacture and sell durable wood goods. Some lumber is sold to the general public. The remaining lower grade logs are utilized in their onsite firewood program. Any remaining logs and or debris is taken to the county compost site.
